Writing Prompt: beef with your witch neighbor

Image
Writing prompt: by the. write.talk  Short story When A Witch Crosses the Line It took over four years to perfect the three wish spell mushrooms. They were my biggest seller, and this year's crop was delivering huge red-hued portobello-shaped beauties. The profits allowed me to buy this sizeable secluded piece of land and build the home of my dreams, a nice earth-friendly space that honored nature and ingenuity.  When you can give people things they want in a consumable form, people keep coming back for more. Compelling people. This hidden haven in the forest was the perfect way to escape those that would seek to take advantage of my product or enslave me.  The witch, Beatriz, lived in the forest on the west side of my property. She seemed like a wonderful neighbor and friend. She was never interested in my gardening. That is, not until a few months ago. She casually picked and ate one of my mushrooms a few months back before I could stop her. She came to visit while I was working

2 sentence horror story- Permanent Vacay

This short story was something fun I decided to try while watching the series on Netflix. This story originally was written directly on my IG page that is why the length is limited but it was also an exercise in trying to tell a complete story in a limited amount of words. I added just a few more words since I have the space on the blog. Don't be surprised if you see more of these pop up from time to time on this blog. In this story I was just angry and had a bad day so I decided to write a story. Therapists recommend journaling. I like storytelling better. With my head up looking towards the sky Permanent Vacation: For years Katha had been living an unhappy existence. He got up early, made his breakfast and rode his bike 2 miles in the dark to the bakery that would soon be open to the bustling city of Ghonbury. He was the first to arrive, the last to leave. Even though he had done this for years, he was never promoted, never recognized, never appreciated. Passed over time and t

TIME LESS part 2

TIME LESS part 2 (first draft) 1:30 pm Sunday I wake up under the water in the tub and jerk upright so that my head is out of the water. Sputtering and coughing and splashing like a lunatic, I knock over the shampoo and body wash. I utter a startled cry. I am left with the haunting image of Billy's green eyes and an overwhelming feeling of loss.  I feel....I cannot quite explain what I feel. It's a deep yearning for something I cannot quite name.  All the noise caused Aunt Rebekah to knock on the door to see if I was ok. "I'm fine, just fell asleep in the water and scared myself" I said, embarrassed "Ok, well come down and get some lunch" She says and I hear her go downstairs. "You don't seem to have much of an appetite Celestina." Aunt Rebekah said after watching me push my food around on my plate for the last few minutes. "Aunt Rebekah do you remember a boy named Billy. He used to be at the lake with a group of kids...." I ask

TIME LESS part 1

Intro to TIME LESS He kissed me again passionately and smiled in a way that touched my soul.  Looking into the eyes of my soul mate, I  still cannot believe how we got to this moment, but I  never wanted it to end.   The journey was strange and scary and exciting all rolled into one. It all seems so long ago and yet, somehow still feels like it was yesterday. I have to share my story with you. If I had not lived through it myself, I  would not believe a word of it as truth, but I swear to the universe, it happened.

New story for the month of May

Image
Last month I introduced you to my WIP The Ties that Bind which has now been changed to Evolv. For the month of May, I gave you a taste of Mending Fences and not one but 3 short stories and drum roll, please! Starting tomorrow through the end of May you will get to read the starting bones of what I am calling a reverse paranormal romance story called TIME LESS. A new part will be released every other day. I realize you have lives and your own writing and reading to do. I hope you enjoy the first draft of this story. I don't have a timeline for getting this story done yet so feel free to fall in love with it but know you will be waiting for a while before I get back to it.  I am focusing on my Short Story collection and my novel Ginnie Transformed for release this year. In the meantime, I really hope you enjoy TIME LESS and can connect with the characters. Thank you in advance for hanging out with me on my blog, supporting me with your visits. Hello to all aspiring and future write

2 sentence horror story- Stolen

This short story was something fun I decided to try while watching the series on Netflix. This story originally was written directly on my IG page that is why the length is limited but it was also an exercise in trying to tell a complete story in a limited amount of words. I added just a few more words since I have the space on the blog. Don't be surprised if you see more of these pop up from time to time on this blog. This was my ode to daylight savings time which the spring forward one always messes me up for about a week. The first day is the worst. I hope you enjoy the story. While I was sleeping someone stole an hour from me. STOLEN: Quella stretched one last time before climbing into bed. She heard the rhythmic purring of her calico cat, Bits, near her feet as she kneaded. Quella decided to read a book before falling asleep instead of watching the nightly news. The hunk on her calendar wall smirked down on her as she closed her eyes. The next morning, she woke up bright and

The story behind Mending Fences

Image
THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY MENDING FENCES At the time I wrote mending fences, I had been reading a lot of steamy stories.  A. LOT. After doing some housework, when my mind always wanders, I asked my husband to give me names for 3 characters, two males and 1 female. I know. You are probably looking at the way I inconsistently wrote the numbers. I will do that from time to time. Sorry, not sorry. Grammarly will fix it later. Anyways, the idea was this. I had three names. I wanted something with a double meaning, and I wanted to try my hand at writing 2 distinct male voices. For a first effort, I think I did ok. the story as it appears here is the original rough AF first draft. A slightly better version was put on Literotica, and omg, I got 29k views and over 4 stars rating. I was happy with that. I mean, wow, it was my first completed short story tested on an actual site. I was a little bit proud. I am not gonna lie. I put it on NSFWstories.com, and it was well-received too. I didn'

May 1 Sunday morning writing update

Image
Sunday morning writing update : My current WIP Ginnie Transformed is currently at 160,728 words, practically over 370 pages. I am only on chapter 29, and I still have more to tell in this story. I was surprised I had over 100k words. I would like to be able to get the story told in 200000 words. I am afraid it will be too long for a good portion of readers. I think I can do it. If not, I will just write until the story is told. I remember when the average novel was 4-500 pages. I am not looking forward to the editing, but it's got to happen. I worked most of the day editing chapter 12. Just randomly picked a chapter. I have no idea what I was thinking! OMG, it took all day, and I was almost in tears with frustration and ended up with more words than when I started editing the chapter. 4362 ended with 4476. The hardest part is rewriting sentences. The second hardest part is when it tells me even fluent readers may struggle with the meaning of certain words. Trust me, the words are

Mending Fences-short story

Image
MENDING FENCES a MMF short story (first draft) Note: after a pretty successful run on Literotica, it has now been expanded, edited and included in my erotic short story collection Kissing in the Rain  Here is a small sample of the story: Lysa sighed and walked out to sit on the back patio. The night air was crisp, and the leaves were just starting to turn colorful shades of orange and red. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the broken slat in the fence. It wasn't broken when she bought the house 3 weeks ago. The longer it sat like that, the more annoying it became. Lysa had attempted to contact the neighbors on the other side of the fence, but they were either avoiding her, or they were on totally different schedules. Stretching out on the rattan sofa, she put her feet up and wiggled her toes. The air felt so good on her feet after a long day in pumps and stockings. Again the missing slats in the fence beckoned, and she decided she would go over in the morning before she left

A 500 word short story

A Dark Erotic Horror Short Evan never thought much about Ken after their one or maybe two hook ups. That was way back in his freshman year of college. He had a successful career and a family now. He remembered bumping into Ken a few times throughout the past few years but Evan was a busy man. He didn't have time to hang out with Ken. He thought Ken looked like he had not changed much from college. He was always about to work on work on some thing big or in between jobs. Evan had a busy law practice and was soon to make partner. He only schmoozed with the right sort of people.  It was hard enough to get quiet time alone with his wife between the hours he worked and the kids. Thinking back he had felt at times like he was being watched but brushed it off as being silly. He now understood why his tires had been slashed about a month ago and mail had been missing. He wondered what he could have done differently. How could he have missed the signs? He considered himself a good guy, a
