TIME LESS part 9
TIME LESS part 9 (first draft)
Taluk and William cont.
A small doe approached Taluk and sank down beside him. He licked her and she returned the licking. William could feel the stag's and his excitement growing. Taluk had been correct. Since now they were fully connected the sensations were amplified. The stag's/his genitals swelled increasingly large and the need to mate with the female was a swirling red vortex in Taluk's mind.
William shrank away and surrounded himself with layers of darkness. He was getting better at it because as Taluk stood and mounted her. After the initial overwhelming sensation of entering the doe he felt little more than a mild flush at the coupling. He felt he could deal with that and was much happier than he had been since his death. William did not want to explain love and commitment to Taluk since obviously it was not a gift bestowed upon his species. Moments later Taluk dislodged himself from the female.
"William" Taluk called to him. Under the layers of darkness it was almost like a whisper.
"Yes Taluk" William responded undoing the layers of darkness he had wrapped himself in.
"This is much better. Thank you for leaving me to it" Taluk sighed and stretched their body contentedly and then started walking away from the group of hind.
William was much more aware of the walking motion, the feel of the ground, the vibrations in the air and all of the sounds were magnified. It was like mother nature was speaking to him in a language he could finally understand. He felt the flexing of the stag's powerful muscles. He listened with new ears to the sounds around him. He started to gallop and then increased to a full out run bursting out into a meadow of high grass. Taluk ran back and forth and shared the feeling openly with William. For the first time in a long while, William felt the wonder of the world return to him. Taluk even went to a special spot in higher ground where there was a small cave hidden by brush and just along the north side was a huge bilberry bush. Taluk ate his fill. William shared in the experiences seeing how Taluk chose the biggest sweetest berries and ate the shrubs near the ground that were green and succulent. A light rain started to fall and steadily increased to an all out thunderstorm. Instead of going in the cave for cover the stag allowed the rain to totally saturate his coat. The feeling was nice and comforting. He was no longer itchy and hot and actually felt refreshed. Taluk turned his face up to the falling rain and opened his mouth to get fresh water on his tongue.
Taluk spoke to William. "Lets run together. You will need to put your energy with mine. I believe it will make us faster." William agreed and they practiced running together. It was both exhilarating and tiring. And as they both thought, it made Taluk faster. They stayed in the meadow for a few days. They continued growing together, working together explaining and learning the things of the wild and Taluk learning of the human ways. Before long they were moving and thinking in unison. When it came time to mate William was able to close himself off for the most part. Only once had he took down the covering too soon misreading Taluk as he paused and was unable to avoid the rush of sensation as the huge stag released explosively into the doe.
William was not sure how much time had passed. He did not know what calendar day it was nor did he feel that it mattered. He rose when the sun heated his fur and slept when it pleased him. Usually it was close to dawn after Taluk had his fill for the day. Today was a particularly heavy day of mating, William experienced a dizzying feeling momentarily followed by weakness. His Stag was having trouble standing. Wrapped in his cloaking cocoon of darkness, William had not paid attention to every moment of Taluk's rambling and mating. He was lost in thought about his encounter with Celestina, thinking of how things might have played out if she had stayed longer. He realized Taluk was once again, not eating. He remembered that his father had said that males sometimes die in the rut because they mate until exhaustion and don't eat. William sent the wordless query to Taluk. Taluk could not explain why he was not hungry. He just had this overwhelming desire, this unquenchable need to mate.
William used his energy to get the large stag to the meadow and forced him to eat from the bilberry tree until he was stuffed and then had him go by a small brook and drink until he felt he was about to burst. Taluk was too weak to fight him on this. Away from the group of hind, the red haze in the Stag's mind cleared.
"We are immortal William we cannot die" Taluk said finally, "Besides you have already experienced death once, you should have no fear of such things."
"Yes, but we still need to honor our body and not push it past its limits" William responded "I do not want to spend eternity as a crippled stag"
Taluk sent a sensation that was similar to amusement to William.
"Thank you my friend" Taluk said wearily.
The big stag went into the cave to rest, the dark coolness soothing them both and fell into a heavy sleep. William, tired from his exertion wrapped himself in a cloak of darkness thinking of Celestina and also fell asleep.
