Kissing in the Rain: Ginnie part 2

Ginnie
Part 2

"Miss Parkes, you can go in now!" The receptionist's megawatt smile greeted Gwendolyn as she passed the high marble desk. " Dr. Phan will be right in to see you. Please make yourself comfortable." Ginnie could tell by the receptionist's demeanor that she actually liked her job. Ginnie just hoped that she was making the right decision as the receptionist stepped out of the room pulling the door closed behind her. Smoothing her pencil skirt for the 50th time,  she looked down at the brochure that was now crumpled from her nervousness.

The door opened moments later and a smartly dressed women bustled into the room hanging her lab coat on a hook and positioning herself behind the beautiful oak and glass desk. Pressing a button on her desk the blinds opened behind her exposing a floor to ceiling window. Through the window Ginnie could see the beautifully manicured lawn. A gorgeous expanse of grass led down to a crystal blue lake. If she had a beautiful view like this everyday, she was not sure if she would get any work done.

"Miss Parkes, thank you for coming in today. I apologize for keeping you waiting"  she said extending her hand across the desk. "I'm Dr. Phan"

Ginnie smiled as she reached out and shook her proffered hand.

"I want to first thank you for applying to be a part of our program. I'm pleased to inform you that you are one of our top candidates and hopefully together we can bring hope to many other couples."

"I'd like that." Ginnie answered, nervousness tinging the edge of her voice.

"Miss Parkes, I sense a little nervousness.  Rest assured that you will be closely monitored at all times to make sure everything goes smoothly. The couples have a lot at stake too. They have all been thoroughly researched and it's no secret that these kind of procedures are costly." Dr Phan looked down at the open file on her desk. "You are a  perfect candidate and any couple that chooses you will undoubtedly be pleased. You have a healthy family history, your BMI is perfect for your height and weight, you are educated and I have to admit, you are exceptionally pleasing to look at..." Dr. Phan looked directly at Ginnie as she was saying that last part. Ginnie squirmed slightly in her chair. Once again  smoothing her pencil skirt. Dr. Phan closed the file and crossed her arms on the desk. She leaned forward as she addressed Ginnie.

"Miss Parkes,  I am aware that you came here looking to participate in our program to donate your eggs, but that is such a limiting experience for someone of your potential."

"Excuse me?" Ginnie asked

"If I may be so bold. Please hear me out." Dr. Phan paused briefly before continuing. "You have a degree in psychology, and IT. We have positions available here where you can utilize your talents and help couples. This could be a wonderful career option and you can keep your eggs to use for when you are ready to have your own family or if you still desire, donate them to a mutually acceptable couple a little later down the road.
I personally think you will be a fantastic fit for our team." Dr. Phan looked expectantly at Ginnie.

"I...wow. I wasn't prepared for you to say that Dr. Phan. It's a lot to consider. This sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I'll be happy to consider it." Ginnie responded with a huge smile on her face.

"Great, I took the liberty of having my admin draft up an offer for you. That is why I  was running a bit late." Dr. Phan admitted. She reopened the file and slid out a packet across the desk towards Ginnie.  "I know for a fact you don't really need the money, we ran a financial background check on you as well. While you are not exceedingly well off you are a very long way from destitute as many of our applicants tend to be. So I think this has personal meaning to you. If you accept this offer of employment, getting acclimated to how we do things here and the work load will keep you pretty busy. As part of the offer, you won't be able to donate your eggs for one year."

Ginnie opened her mouth to speak but Dr. Phan held up her hand to stop her. Continuing Dr. Phan explained "We have a very unique program here that has proven extremely successful. That is the reason for that addendum. Please take a few minutes to look at the offer. You will see that we have taken care to make the offer very attractive and beneficial for you.

I am going to step out of the office for a bit to give you some privacy while you read. She pushed a pen over to her along with a small pad of paper in case Ginnie had any questions. Retrieving her lab coat as she exited her office, Dr. Phan closed the door then quickly opened it again.

"Do you need a beverage or anything?" She asked

"No thank you" Ginnie answered turning her head towards Dr. Phan  then  looking back at the first page of the offer.

"Ok, " Dr. Phan responded as she closed the door once again.

Ginnie looked at the documents in front of her once more. She immediately saw that they were offering a sign on bonus in the same amount that she would have received for her harvested eggs. That made her smile. The rest of the offer was pretty straight forward with a 65K initial yearly salary. Moving expenses were covered. 37.5 hour work week with 1 hour lunches. Not what she made at the club but she could manage on this. It was honest work she could take pride in and discuss at the dinner table. There were some amazing travel perks and the benefit package was top notch. She didn't see anything she didn't like so she picked up the pen and signed the offer feeling satisfied and excited to get started.

30 minutes later Dr. Phan returned with a hopeful smile.
"I was wondering if I could help sway your decision. Would you like a tour of the facility? Maybe, help you decide if you want to work here." She asked Ginnie as she came in the and sat in the chair next to her.

Ginnie handed her the packet.  "I've already decided  Dr. Phan and a tour of the facility would be great."

Dr. Phan thumbed through the documents to make sure all of the signatures were done. She smiled as she once again reached to shake Ginnie's hand.
"Great, I am happy to have you on board. Can you start in 2 weeks?" She asked.

"Yes, Absolutely!"

To be continued...
