The eighth month

Image
So August is upon us. I set some lofty goals for the month. I posted this on some of my social media sites.  Here are my writing goals for the month of August: I have completed half of Chapter 6 of my ongoing story Beef Witch You  and hope to be ready to start Chapter 7 midweek while I finish up and edit Chapter 6. That is how I have been able to post between 3500  to 3700 word chapters weekly. Beef Witch You will be a novella. Eventually I  will write a novella for each sector of Forestdale.  They will be free and published on Wattpad and Inkitt. I think it's a good way to practice and improve my writing while slowly building an audience.  I invested a little into some marketing efforts to drive readers to my books on Wattpad. The effect over all,  has been minimal at best. I have gained some very loyal followers of the story which makes me happy.  I have also tried jumping on some writerslift or writerlifts on Twitter but again, it's slow...

KITR: Let Me In

Image
Authors Note: Story name was changed to Let Me In Invite Me In The rain was coming down in torrential sheets as Barry headed back home from Jacob's party. The windshield wipers barely kept enough rain off his windows to be useful. He would have to remember to stop by AutoZone and get some rainex and maybe new wiper blades. However, right now, he had to just concentrate a little harder on trying to see what was going on ahead of him through the rain-battered windshield. Drivers were putting on their flashers and slowing to a painstaking crawl. His little blue Prius, surprisingly,  was only mildly buffeted in the ferocity of the storm. Despite the 4 drinks he had in his system, he thought he was maneuvering the car quite well. Gusty winds had knocked down several small trees. Lightning strikes illuminated the road ahead and behind him in brief lines of electricity, as he drove the few miles from Jacob's house. Broken branches littered some of the streets as he turned onto Wila...

Writing Prompt: beef with your witch neighbor

Writing prompt: by the. write.talk  Short story When A Witch Crosses the Line It took over four years to perfect the three wish spell mushrooms. They were my biggest seller, and this year's crop was delivering huge red-hued portobello-shaped beauties. The profits allowed me to buy this sizeable secluded piece of land and build the home of my dreams, a nice earth-friendly space that honored nature and ingenuity.  When you can give people things they want in a consumable form, people keep coming back for more. Compelling people. This hidden haven in the forest was the perfect way to escape those that would seek to take advantage of my product or enslave me.  The witch, Beatriz, lived in the forest on the west side of my property. She seemed like a wonderful neighbor and friend. She was never interested in my gardening. That is, not until a few months ago. She casually picked and ate one of my mushrooms a few months back before I could stop her. She came to visit whil...

2 sentence horror story- Stolen

Image
This short story was something fun I decided to try while watching the series on Netflix. This story originally was written directly on my IG page that is why the length is limited but it was also an exercise in trying to tell a complete story in a limited amount of words. I added just a few more words since I have the space on the blog. Don't be surprised if you see more of these pop up from time to time on this blog. This was my ode to daylight savings time which the spring forward one always messes me up for about a week. The first day is the worst. I hope you enjoy the story. While I was sleeping someone stole an hour from me. STOLEN: Quella stretched one last time before climbing into bed. She heard the rhythmic purring of her calico cat, Bits, near her feet as she kneaded. Quella decided to read a book before falling asleep instead of watching the nightly news. The hunk on her calendar wall smirked down on her as she closed her eyes. The next morning, she woke up bright and...
